Learning Updates

We are hard at work preparing for our learning assembly on Wednesday December 19th at 3pm!

In Social Studies, students are making a comparison between life in Alberta in 1718 and 2018, with an emphasis on food, clothing, shelter, people, and the natural area.

In Math we are exploring arrays to help our understanding of multiplication.  Below is a copy of the assessment that students are using for these assignments to follow each step.

Social Studies – Historical Artwork

Learning Intention: I can use my knowledge of Alberta’s history to compare what life was like 300 years ago to today with words and pictures.

I wrote about the materials that were used in the past, including the buffalo  ____________

I drew examples of the clothing, food, tools, and shelter I use today      ____________

I made connections between what has changed and what is the same      ____________

Multiplication using Arrays

Learning Intention: I can use an array to show multiplication facts

Task: Use blocks to create as many arrays as you can find for the following numbers- choose a number you are comfortable with and then a more challenging number:
                                                      8                12             24             30             36

Draw each array in your book followed by a matching multiplication sentence.

Assessment: Use this checklist to assess your work

I used blocks to create arrays for my first number                              ____________

I drew the arrays in my math book                                                      ____________

I wrote a multiplication sentence for each array                                  ____________

I challenged myself with a larger number and
drew as many arrays as I could find with
matching multiplication sentences                                                       ____________
