Musical Ride

Special Opportunity June 4:
Today our neighbour school, Corpus Christi, celebrated their 60th Anniversary. They had a Musical Ride from Lord Strathcona’s Horse Ceremonial Mounted Troop Cavalry Ride.

We were invited to watch. Our class gathered on Thorncliffe School’s front grassy area and viewed the horses and riders perform.  What a wonderful to learn more about this unique and vital link to Alberta's history!

We started looking at fractions today. We talked about how fractions are used to describe a part of a whole. Students were asked to look for examples at home that could be described at less than half or more than half. The examples we used were walking to school (more than halfway there, less than halfway there), or a car's gas tank. What examples can you think of?
